G-Pay UPI Fraud: How Does UPI Fraud Happen?

Welcome to CybercrimesDaily in today’s article, we will know how does UPI fraud happens? Today in this report, I will tell you how to save yourself from UPI fraud on Google. It is said that prevention is better than cure.

How Does UPI Fraud Happen?

One day, a person named Dolphin was going in a cab and then Dolphin got a call. The person who wanted to buy the dining table he was selling on OLX came on his phone.

How Does UPI Fraud Happen

Dolphin’s father had listed a dining table on OLX and this was the subject on that person’s phone. That person told Dolphin that I am interested in buying your dining table and for this I want to transfer you 5000 rupees in advance. Dolphin was very happy that wow, my dining table has been sold very quickly.

Dolphin was talking on the phone and while talking on the phone, the person said that I am giving you money in advance. You will get a request. You give your pin UPI pin and you will get 5000 rupees as soon as you give your pin.

I tell you that Dolphin is a very smart influencer model actor. And he is so smart that no one can fool him easily. But he was talking on the phone.

His attention was on the phone call. And he was thinking that how many times it happens that when you ask for your UPI pin, you pay for your food, Zomato, Swiggy etc. So it will just happen.

Dolphin put his UPI pin and at that time 5000 rupees was deducted from his account. Yes, instead of 5000 rupees, 5000 rupees was deducted from his account. Why did this happen? Now friends, let me explain to you.

Why Did This Happen?

Whenever someone wants to send you money, they never need your UPI pin. Remember. If someone wants to send you money, wants to deposit money in your account, then they never need your UPI pin.

When you want to pay someone, pay for online shopping or pay for ticket booking, that particular app sends you a request. And you can pay them by entering your UPI PIN. The story is not over yet.

While talking on the phone, Dolphin read a message on his phone that 5000 rupees has been deducted from his account. At that time, he told the stranger that 5000 rupees has been deducted.

Then see the courage of that person. He told Dolphin, if you put a PIN again and transfer me 2000 rupees, then I will give you 7000 rupees back.

What Should Be Done at This Time?

Immediately block your bank account. Block your card. Because this is a sign of a very big UPI fraud that can happen to you.

Dolphin lost only 5000 rupees and survived. Because he took all these steps.

Another story of losing his entire 8900 rupees through UPI fraud.

So What Should We Do Now?

Should we stop using Google Pay? No, guys. Google Pay is a good app. You should definitely use it.

But be careful. So remember the first thing I told you today. Whenever someone wants to send you money, never give them your UPI PIN.

If you want to send money to someone, then put your UPI PIN in your app, read the message and make the payment. Who is asking you for money? Is someone asking you for money? Or has someone sent you money? One more thing.

Good Thing About Google Pay App

There is a very good thing about Google Pay app. The app also warns you. You will send more money to a stranger.

Do you want to send it? A few days ago, I was booking a ticket to Delhi. And I booked the ticket on an airline website.

And the amount of money was more than normal money. Because the ticket price was high. So I started paying from UPI in Google Pay app.

So I got a warning. Normally, you never send this much money to this merchant. Do you want to do this transaction? So I said yes.

Because I wanted to book that ticket. So remember. The warning that you get in Google Pay app.

The messages that come. The request messages that come. Read them carefully.

Requests For Remote Access

Friends, there is another way through which UPI fraud is done. Now what is this remote access? I am explaining in simple language.

When you work in an IT company. So in that company, the company gives you a laptop. How many times does a technical fault occur in that laptop?

Always download the apps on Google yourself. You do your own installation. Your password. Your pin. Do it yourself. So that there is no fraud.

Another UPI Fraud Incident

A person took the number of a restaurant from Google. And then he called him. Is your restaurant open? So the manager of that number said. Yes, our restaurant is open.

But if you want to eat here. Then you have to book a table. And while booking the table.

You have to pay some amount in advance. We have to pay Google. So the restaurant asked this person for an advance amount.

This person opened Google Pay to pay the advance amount. And even then he was talking to the restaurant on the phone. That restaurant said.

I am telling you. You enter this amount. And at the same time you enter this pin.

And you pay. Actually it was a scammer. Because this number was taken out by this person from Google.

It was not a restaurant number. It was a scammer’s number. This scammer withdrew 50,000 rupees from this person’s Google Pay UPI account.

Now Why Is This Scam?

First of all, if you want the number of any website, any restaurant, anything. Then don’t search for it on Google. Search for it on their website.

Go to Google and first search for the website name. And get the contact number from this website and contact anyone. Secondly.

If you want to send money to someone. Then first hang up the phone you are talking to. That person will ask you for money.

A message will come. Where the amount will also be written. When you think that it is the right amount.

And only then you will send your money. You can choose by mobile number. How much money do you want to send to whom? So while using the Google Pay application.

Take Care of Some Things.

Firstly, do not share your UPI PIN with anyone.

Secondly. Do not forward any fraud to any other number.

Thirdly. Keep your app, your PIN, password safe.

And fourth and most importantly. Be careful.

If You Have Been Scammed.

So what should you do? If unfortunately, you have been scammed. Then first you need to take a screenshot.

All the amount of money that has been withdrawn from your account.

You need to take a screenshot of your app. Then you need to complain to RBI.

Yes. RBI is now giving you this facility. So that you can complain about the fraud that has happened to you.

But before that. Before that. You change your PIN.

Change your password. Block your bank account. Block your card.

And this way you will be able to avoid further fraud. You can also report your fraud to NPCI Cyber Crime.
